Known issues by generation
While each model has its unique charm, certain known issues can arise across generations of personal watercraft. For instance, the supercharged Sea-Doo RXT-X and RXP-X models often require supercharger rebuilds after 100-200 hours, which can cost between $1,200 and $2,500. Additionally, upholstery may suffer from sun fade and UV breakdown, needing a vinyl reupholster that ranges from $300 to $600. Yamaha WaveRunners, particularly models like the FX SVHO, can experience jet-pump impeller wear due to sand and gravel intake damage, necessitating a replacement costing $200 to $500. Regular maintenance, including a salt-water flush after every use, is critical for preventing galvanic corrosion and mineral deposits. Being aware of these issues can help you manage your watercraft better and enhance its value for donation.
Donation value by condition + generation
The value of your personal watercraft can vary significantly based on its condition and usage. Low-hour models, especially premium brands like the Sea-Doo RXT-X 300 or Kawasaki Ultra 310, can fetch between $15,000 to $25,000+. Mid-tier models such as the GTI and VX typically range from $5,000 to $12,000, while entry-level models like the Sea-Doo Spark or Yamaha EX are often valued between $3,000 to $7,000. Including a trailer can also enhance your donation's value, with prices for single trailers ranging from $500 to $1,500 and double or triple stack options between $1,500 and $4,000. For donations exceeding $5,000, we recommend a surveyor inspection to substantiate your valuation for IRS Form 8283 Section B, utilizing marine valuations from BUC, NADA Marine, or Kelley Blue Book Marine.
Donation process for this model
Donating your watercraft is straightforward with Ride Again. To begin, you'll need to provide the Hull Identification Number (HIN) located on the transom, as well as the motor-engine's separate VIN/serial number if applicable. It's important to know the distinction between USCG documentation and state-titled boats, especially for federal documentation on boats over 5 net tons. If your trailer has a separate VIN, that will also need to be included in our records. Marine-title states require specific handling; keeping BoatU.S. or Sea Tow records can help establish service history. For donations valued at $5,000 or more, a surveyor inspection, generally ranging from $300 to $500, is recommended. We can also arrange for seasonal pickup of your watercraft, considering winter-storage logistics.
